Sunday 16th December: Went for a walk this afternoon, up the river from Greenhithe.

Up underneath the Dartford Crossing/QE2 bridge

The light catching the chimney on Littlebrook power station

Aircraft overhead, included an Emirates Airbus A380 on approach to Heathrow, and an Airfrance Boeing 747-800 heading from Charles de Gaulle Airport.

and this strange helicopter - looks like something out of a Bond film....

Far East - Day 10 & 11, "Heading home"

Friday 30th November: Up early, and straight into a taxi, travelled through Penang at rush-hour. An experience. There is a local saying, that if you can drive in Penang, you can drive anywhere.

The sunrises over the mainland. In the distance the bridge to the mainland can be seen.

A short wait at Penang International Airport, and then back on the Silk Air flight to Singapore.
The view from my window as we prepared to taxi out to the runway.

During the hour and half flight, we headed down the Malacca Straits. One of the many ships seen, this Maersk 37,000 dwt tanker.

..and an MSC leaving the berth at Port Klang. (very poor quality)

Before I knew it we were on the approach to Changi, with views of shipyards at Batam, Indonesia.

As well as the SD15 type 'Amar' and 3 laid up LNG tankers awaiting conversion.
The VLCC 'Yangtze Friendship' passes underneath, heading from the Gulf to China.

.....and plenty of ships in the Eastern Anchorage.
Once on the ground at Changi Airport, a short ride on the SkyTrain to the terminal for the onward journey.
Not much was seen from the plane on the way home, due to not having a window.  It meant I coould catch up on movies. The only picture I did take was this of this mountain range as we passed over Afghanistan.
After nearly 19 hours of travelling I arrived back at Heathrow - it was still Friday..... a weird feeling!

Far East - Day 9, "The last day"

Thursday 29th November: My last full day in Malaysia. The light was nice, so took advantage of some pictures of Gurney Drive, with the Tsunami Sculpture on the roundabout at the head of the road.
Once the morning had been completed in the office it was time for lunch. I was treated by Logan, Anaz and Vivek to another great dinner in Little India.

Outside, took the opportunity to take some pictures out on the street.

Then my paparazzi skills picked up these two celeb's lurking behind the office....

At the end of the working day, a quick visit to the harbour. A special visitor had arrived - The British built SD14 "Fortress 7". (We then had a special visit, telling us we shouldn't have been there, and promptly left!)

A nice evening was spent with some of the team down at Strait's Quay. Overhead another huge thunderstorm was bouncing around. The area reminded me of Gunwharf at Portsmouth. Again, new dishes were sampled!

Christmas Decorations in the entrance to Straits Quay

Then on back to Northam Beach Cafe for a few more Tiger's with Vivek and Danny - though tiredness was hitting me hard and I was soon back in my hotel room packing.
